I created my first blog in around January or March of 2013 to simply kill some time and to improve my writing skill while documenting my life. I had no pressure back then until I accidentally stumbled upon the whole beauty blogging stuff.
Let me be honest here, the first several months were wonderful. I felt great reviewing products and enjoyed playing around with makeup. But, I guess, for me it was not the right niche to be in. I quickly realized that I had that urge to chase all this ‘brand new’ or the ‘latest’ items on the market and it became not enjoyable at all. At that time, I had a very limited budget too; that counts as another reason why beauty blogging wasn’t my thing.
It was not very long ago that I recategorized my blog as a lifestyle blog, but frankly speaking, I feel like it’s anything and everything blog now. **I don’t even know why I am bringing this up though…
The point is, all these years, I totally forgot about my own reasons for writing the blog; even though it’s been changed quite a bit over the years.. I was busy trying to impress and entertain everyone who read my blog in spite of myself. Busy chasing after all these ‘big’ bloggers.. And as you can see, that slowly killed my love for blogging and I feel very pressured every time when I am trying to write something. So I decided to step back, slow down and keep it all natural (instead of chasing others and feeling overwhelmed).
Having a blog is surly fun. You don’t have to be an expert to be a blogger. You don’t have to impress anyone but yourself. All I want to say is that, don’t forget why you started it. I think it is great to remind yourself your reasons for blogging, when you slowly losing your interest in it.
What’s your reason for blogging?
Why you started (if you have one) or why would you like to start one?
